Como en una novela, Pollock abandonó su hogar para buscar fama y fortuna en Nueva York. Gracias al Proyecto Federal de Artes fue aclamado rápidamente y al terminar la Segunda Guerra Mundial, se convirtió en la más grande celebridad del arte estadounidense. Para De Kooning, fue Pollock quien “rompió el hielo”.
